Tasting Notes: The nose opens with aromas of black cherry, cigar box and earthy spice. Spicy black fruit and earthiness reappear on the palate, framed by fine tannins and a creamy texture that fill out the persistent finish.
Romance Copy: The fruit for our Trata Pinot noir was hand harvested and hand sorted on a cool September 17th morning from the vineyard blocks located just north and west of our wine cave. Immediately following harvest, the clusters consisting of Dijon 667, 828, Wadenswil 2A and Dijon 115 were delivered to the winery where the fruit was once again hand sorted and then destemmed and placed in small bins to cold soak until fermentation began with indigenous yeast provided by nature in the vineyard. After a series of manual punch downs, the wine was pressed, settled and transferred to 100% French oak barrels where primary and ML fermentations were naturally completed.
Our Trata, named after a traditional commemorative dance performed in the ancient Greek city of Megara only at Easter time, was our opportunity to select our favorite lot from this block and share it with you.
