89 Points – Wine Enthusiast – August 2015
Tasting Notes: A seductive pale straw color greets the eyes followed by the aromas of white peach and orange zest with hints of vanilla crème brûlée, alongside very subtle oak. The “Assemblage” is a beautiful expression of Oregon style Chardonnay. It is well integrated, smooth and rounded, defined and focused, medium bodied with great texture and a lingering finish with bright acidity.
Romance Copy: Our 2013 Assemblage is a fusion of diversity. Contributing to the dance is a blend of Espiguette 352, Dijon 76 and Draper clones grown in the south harmonized with Dijon clones 76 and 95 grown in the north.
The perfectly ripe clusters were hand selected and harvested from each vineyard and carefully blended together to create this limited production Chardonnay revealing the multifaceted flavors of Oregon.
Our Assemblage Chardonnay was aged sur lie (on the lees) for five months in 100% French oak and stainless steel barrels. The stirring of the barrels, a process known as bâttonage, was carefully performed weekly. These artisanal winemaking techniques add a dimension of creaminess, texture and complexity to the mouthfeel while maintaining the wonderful aromas and flavors of the fruit.
